Innovative Orthodontics Announces new Gloucester County Location!!!

When I founded Innovative Orthodontics in 2007, my goal was crystal clear – to return to my roots to provide the highest quality orthodontic care to the people of South Jersey and of the Philadelphia area, with a customer service experience that was second to none. I have spent every day since making that dream a reality. My dedicated iOrtho Team and I have helped thousands of patients achieve the beautiful, confident smile that they deserve, while treating everyone who walks through our doors as if he or she were family. On every level, I could not be any prouder of what we have built and accomplished.

One of the greatest compliments that we have received throughout the years is that many of our patients have travelled long distances to visit us in our Camden County location in Sicklerville. Specifically, a large portion of our patient population comes to see us from Gloucester County – from Monroe Township, from Washington Township, from Harrison Township, from Woolwich Township, from Logan Township, and from everywhere in between. Gloucester County has always been very near and dear to my heart, since my father and mother were both long-time teachers in the area. My father taught English at Clearview Regional High School for 40 years, and my mother taught elementary school in West Deptford for 25 years. I also practiced orthodontics in Mullica Hill for two years prior to opening Innovative Orthodontics. Gloucester County always has been my second home.

I have always been honored and humbled that patients have chosen to travel long distances to be treated by me and the iOrtho Team; however, because of my intense focus on customer service, I have made the decision that this will no longer be necessary. I am thrilled to announce that a second Innovative Orthodontics’ location will be opening in Woolwich Township, Gloucester County in the spring of 2016! The office will be conveniently located on Route 322 and will be easily accessible from all areas of Gloucester County and Salem County! In addition, because of the close proximity to the Commodore Barry Bridge, we will now be even more accessible to our Philadelphia neighbors to the west!

This additional location will allow us to make life much more convenient for our patients who travel. In addition, it will make our affordable, state-of-the-art, customer-friendly approach to orthodontic treatment available to many more people who deserve it. Construction is now underway on the new space, and we will be seeing patients in or (hopefully) before June 2016. Please do not hesitate to contact me or a member of the iOrtho Team with any questions. We look forward to giving the wonderful people of South Jersey and of the Philadelphia area more reasons to smile for decades to come!

Dr. Dan Bills is Inducted into the American College of Dentists, the Oldest Major Honorary Organization for Dentists

On October 8, 2014, Dr. Dan Bills of Innovative Orthodontics was inducted into The American College of Dentists, the oldest major honorary organization for dentists. Fellowship in the American College is a distinct honor, and Dr. Bills joins the elite ranks of our nation’s 3.5% of dentists who currently hold Fellowship in the College. Fellows of the American College of Dentists truly are an exclusive group, since Fellowship is bestowed only if the accomplishments of the nominee are truly outstanding and epitomize excellence.

The mission of the American College of Dentists is to advance excellence, ethics, professionalism, and leadership in dentistry. The common characteristic shared by successful candidates for Fellowship is demonstrated leadership in some aspect of dentistry or community service. The selection process for Fellowship utilizes a well-established, confidential peer review system evaluating professional and community leadership positions, contributions, and credentials. Fellows are selected based on their contributions to organized dentistry, oral health care, dental research, dental education, the profession, and society.

Dr. Bills’ induction into the College comes as a testament to his long-standing and extensive commitment to the dental profession. He has held several local and national positions in the American Dental Association, and he is a Past-President of the Southern Dental Society of New Jersey and a Delegate of the New Jersey Dental Association. In addition, Dr. Bills is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists and the New Jersey Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Bills is also extremely committed to scholarly activity. He is a published author, is on the Orthodontic Faculty at the University of Pennsylvania, and is on Staff in the Department of Dentistry at Virtua Hospital. He was honored as "Teacher of the Year" at the University of Pennsylvania in 2011 and at Virtua in 2008.

Dr. Dan Bills Invited to Lecture Nationwide about How His Orthodontic Practice Utilizes Technology to Connect with Patients

Since he opened Innovative Orthodontics in 2007, Dr. Dan Bills has always looked for ways to utilize technology to better serve his patients. Apparently, orthodontists from across the country want to learn how he and his team are able to utilize emerging technologies to connect with their patients so successfully.

Dr. Bills has been invited to present a lecture entitled “Connecting with the Net-Generation: So Much More Than Just Social Media” at a series of upcoming national orthodontic meetings. The first stop will be at the Vegas Orthodontic International Conference and Exposition (OrthoVOICE) in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 20, 2013. Dr. Bills will give the lecture again at the Southern Association of Orthodontists Annual Meeting in Hilton Head, South Carolina on October 4, 2013. He has also been invited to lecture at the Dolphin Imaging and Management Solutions Users Meeting in Chicago, Illinois on March 8, 2014.

The idea for this lecture came from Dr. Bills’ observation that “Millenials”, or members of the “Net-Generation” as they are now called, use computers, media, and digital technology almost instinctively. Their view of the world is different from that of previous generations, and this difference affects their learning, interactions and relationships significantly. In this lecture, Dr. Bills will elucidate the thought and learning processes of the Net-Generation. In addition, he will explain how orthodontists can utilize these connections in all areas of their practice in order to achieve orthodontic success.

As the son of two teachers, the importance of education was instilled in Dr. Bills at an early age. He is a Clinical Associate in the Department of Orthodontics at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania, and was honored as Penn’s Teacher of the Year in 2011. He is also on staff in the Department of Dentistry at Virtua Hospital, where he lectures about orthodontics to dental residents. In 2008, he was honored as Virtua’s Teacher of the Year. He thoroughly enjoys teaching and lecturing, and looks forward to sharing his thoughts and experiences with orthodontists from across the country.

Dr. Dan Bills Receives “Teacher of the Year” Honor at the University of Pennsylvania

Dr. Dan Bills was recently named “Teacher of the Year” in the Department of Orthodontics at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania. The award was given on Friday June 11, 2011 at the Department graduation banquet held at the Inn at Penn in Philadelphia. “To say that I was honored and surprised to receive this award would be the understatement of the century”, said Bills. “There are so many incredible Faculty members at Penn. I am just glad that the residents are enjoying what I am teaching them.”

As an Honors graduate of Harvard University and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, Dr. Bills has always had a firm dedication to education and to his profession. Serving as a Clinical Associate in the Department of Orthodontics at Penn has allowed him the opportunity to pass on his innovative and cutting-edge approach to orthodontic treatment to the next generation of orthodontists.

As anyone who has ever spent any time at Innovative Orthodontics (Dr. Bills’ private office) will tell you, information and education play a key role in his approach to orthodontic therapy. He spends a great deal of one-on-one time with his patients and parents, and takes great pride in educating them about the many intricacies of orthodontic treatment. In addition, Dr. Bills is the Founder of the Innovative Orthodontics Institute, where he gives in-office lectures about key orthodontic issues to Dentists, Dental Hygienists, and Dental Assistants. In his mind, orthodontic treatment and education are symbiotically linked, and one simply cannot exist without the other. As the son of two teachers, the importance of education was instilled in Dr. Bills at an early age. He was a teaching assistant throughout his many years in school, and he immediately joined the Dental Staff at Virtua Hospital upon returning to South Jersey in 2004. He thoroughly enjoys teaching orthodontics to the dental residents at Virtua, and was honored as their 2008 “Teacher of the Year”. Dr. Bills joined the Faculty at Penn, the area’s only Ivy League Institution, in October 2010. Teaching at Penn has been a lifelong dream of his, and he has enjoyed this opportunity immensely. Apparently, the orthodontic residents at Penn have enjoyed it as well.

Dr. Dan Bills Listed by Philadelphia Magazine as “Top Dentist”

In their February 2010 issue, Philadelphia Magazine featured what they called a “comprehensive guide to the city’s very best dentists”, and Dr. Dan Bills was honored to be named to that elite list! What makes this honor even more exciting is that unlike some “Best Of” lists that are chosen by readers and the general public, this one was chosen by Dr. Bills’ peers. According to Philadelphia Magazine, letters were sent to every dentist in Philadelphia and the surrounding eight-county area inviting them to nominate three peers that they considered the best in each dental specialty. Six hundred and fourteen dentists took the survey, and the individuals with the most votes in each specialty received the “Top Dentist” distinction.

Dr. Bills was one of only 6 South Jersey orthodontists, and one of only 3 in Camden County, named to this elite list. This honor is a testament to that fact that other area dentists appreciate the quality results and superb customer service that patients receive in his office. When Dr. Bills opened Innovative Orthodontics, his goal was to utilize technology to its fullest in order to create beautiful smiles and faces in the most esthetic, efficient and comfortable way possible. The realization of that goal has resulted in an office and treatment philosophy that will undoubtedly change the way you think about orthodontic treatment.

The practice of orthodontics has undergone a technological revolution in recent years, and Dr. Bills’ practice is a direct reflection of that. The practice is housed in a modern, state-of-the-art facility with a firm dedication to technology. From the moment you walk in the front door, the warm environment will remind you more of a spa than a dental office. As far as patient care is concerned, every step of the process – from patient check-in, to diagnosis, to patient education, to treatment planning, to treatment delivery – is aided by the use of computers. In addition, Dr. Bills uses the most advanced orthodontic techniques available, including Invisalign and Damon Braces. All of this ultimately leads to increased patient comfort and convenience and decreased treatment times. Additionally, these techniques allow Dr. Bills to treat the vast majority of his cases without the need to extract permanent teeth – a fact which his patients greatly appreciate.
